Last weekend Robert and I packed our bags and headed to Florida and Georgia for an event-filled weekend. We left the confines of our Dallas home, where Robert has spent about 90% of his life, to expose him to more action than he's seen in the rest of his 3 1/2 months combined! We had a blast at our friend, Catherine's, wedding, and during Robert's first trip to his momma's hometown -- Atlanta. We're both still recovering, but it was definitely worth it!
This pic was taken in the hotel room where Robert hung out with his grandfather, "BooPa," during several of the wedding events. Robert loved spending time with BooPa and he got to watch lots of Duke basketball -- a favorite activity of BooPa's.
Here's a picture from the wedding brunch with several of my college friends. The beautiful bride is in the bright green sweater and the girl holding Robert, Jess, just found out that she's going to have a baby girl!!! Congrats Jess and Max!
This is Robert on his longest car trip (so far) -- 6 1/2 hours -- from Jacksonville to Atlanta. Fortunately, he read most of the time so it was fairly easy:). We actually had to take turns entertaining him in the back seat. He did great, despite the fact that he only napped for a total of about 30 minutes!
He's none too pleased that Mommy interrupted his reading to take his picture.
Yeah! Robert made it to the Georgia welcome center! He's very proud to be part-Texan, part-peach!
One of the highlights of the trip was definitely getting to witness Robert's first meeting with his great-grandparents (now he's met all three!). It was such a blessing to see the joy that a baby can bring to the older generations especially. My precious grandfather, Pop, lit up when he got to hold Robert. Pop has been suffering from macular degeneration for the past several years so he has very limited sight and hearing. To see the enormous smile on his face when he got to hold his great-grandson was priceless. Robert's great-grandmother, Dona, has a special touch with babies. She can rock any baby to sleep in no time. Robert took two of his best naps of the entire trip in Dona's lap -- I was so grateful!
