Easter in Houston

Carlton, Robert and I headed down to Houston for a few days prior to Easter. We had a blast seeing all of the Wynne family and Robert was able to partake in his first Easter egg hunt with most of his Wynne cousins!

Here's a shot of some of the Wynne family. We were celebrating Jody's birthday.

Here is Robert with Trip and Jody. Amazingly, Robert did not mind the neck grip that Trip utilized to keep the other two close for the picture.

This was hilarious. Robert saw the "Easter bunny" coming down the stairs and immediately turned and ran toward me. He enjoyed looking at the bunny, but only from my arms.

Here Robert is showing off his findings from the Easter egg hunt. He found two eggs. Once he had one for each hand he was perfectly content ending his search.

We all enjoyed a DELICIOUS brunch after the hunt. Robert was sitting with his cousins, Anna Cate and Ross -- can you tell they're related?

Yay! Such a fun day!

I had to include this picture. Robert found my hat, put it on backwards and grabbed his keys -- this was not staged, I promise! Carlton and I felt like we were catching a glimpse of what life might look like 15 years from now...I'm not ready for that yet.

Robert's going to be a Big Brother!!

Robert's reading up on his new role...He has no idea what's coming this October, but we know he'll love it when he/she arrives:)! Lord willing, baby Wynne #2 will be here on/around October 7th. We are so excited and can't wait to expand our family and our blog subjects!

Reunion in Sunny San Diego!

Three of my best friends from college and I try to get together for a reunion every year. We've had A LOT of changes in the past year, including 3 babies and a wedding! We're scattered all over the place -- Boston, Philadelphia, Dallas and San Diego -- and this year we decided to meet in California (tough break, I know). We had a blast and it was especially fun to see our little ones interact with each another!

Robert LOVED the ocean. I literally had to tear him away from the view. I love it that my son seems to enjoy one of my favorite things as much as I do!

Robert loved playing with Cate (Liz and Chris' daughter). She was definitely the friendliest baby, saying "hiiiiiii" and waving constantly -- a true southern belle.

We would later regret letting them sleep in the car. It was enough of a power nap to keep them from taking a longer nap that afternoon. They sure look sweet though!

Here's a close-up of Carolina (Jess and Max's daughter) since she is the least visible in the group shot above. Such a cutie! And she hung with the bigger babies like a champ!!

First Birthday Party!

Robert and his great friend, Charlie, celebrated their first birthdays this weekend. Robert has been celebrating for close to two months now, so I think we're confident that the birthday festivities can finally end. They had a "dog" themed party and the little honorees were as precious as always!

Here is a picture of them in the ball pit. First Charlie would look...

...then Robert would look....

...then they both would....well, we tried.

They're both about to burst with anticipation as we prepare the cupcakes for their eating pleasure.

We were thrilled to catch this sweet moment. Charlie said, "Happy Birthday, Robert." Robert replied with "Happy Birthday, Charlie," then they proceeded to inhale their cupcakes -- Robert ate mostly icing, Charlie at mostly cake. They continue to be the perfect pair:).

When I said that he "ate mostly icing," I really meant that he ate some of it, and smeared most of it all over his face.

Robert offered some icing to his Dad. Carlton promptly practiced the well-known parent trick of pretending like you've already got some and you're so busy chewing what you already have that you can't get any more at the moment. Well done, Dad.Here's another ball pit shot of Robert and his friends, Caroline and John Randall.

Here we are with our boys! Happy birthday little ones!

Hoping Your Christmas was Merry and Bright!

Robert's second (first really being aware) Christmas was extremely busy, but was full of precious moments that are now priceless memories. As you will see, most of his time was spent with his darling cousin, Jack.

Trying to get Robert and his cousin to stand together, and still, and to look at the camera all at the same time proved to be quite the challenge this past week. This was the best we could do to get one of the boys by the tree.

The only way we could get a decent pic of the two of them together was to feed them. Robert discovered a food favorite in clementines. My mom had two crates of them for the entire family to share. Robert probably managed to consume 5 out of the 10 lbs. of fruit -- which is pretty impressive for a 22-pounder!

My little chipmunk would store several slices in his mouth at once so that he could quickly grab another slice (or two) to keep in reserve in order to insure that he wouldn't run out. He was pleased to see that Jack had some too and he decided that Jack would be happy to share.

Fortunately, Jack is sweet and was happy to share. While we were pleased to see Jack's generosity, we feared for his fingers when they got too close to Robert's mouth.

We thought that it'd be fun to give the boys their first bubble bath. Our plan was foiled when both boys decided that they didn't like the bubbles -- we couldn't figure out how bubbles could be scary, but apparently they can be. We went up (and down) the stairs a ton! The stairs proved to be more fun than any packaged gift. Next year we'll just stick a bow on the stairs and avoid all of the crowds at the mall. Eventually, we had to set up a barricade so that the parents could get a break.

I had to include this because I thought it was too funny. Robert really wanted to help push the stroller and he did not let his height (or lack thereof) hinder him!

All well!

The title of this post refers to the glorious fact that the Wynne family is finally well after a week of sickness. And the minute Robert was well, he was ready to get outside!

He was mesmerized watching some kids sing at the mall.

I had to include this because I thought it was so funny that his favorite thing at the park was to watch a tennis match. We like to think he was studying the game and devising a strategy that will be implemented when he's finally strong enough to actually hold and swing a racket.

Robert helped Carlton put the tree up. He was a huge help and we only broke two ornaments in the process:)!

We're so glad God made you!

The Wynne family has a tradition, going back to when their children were little, of adding on a verse to the end of the "Happy Birthday" song. It goes like this: "We're so glad God made you. We're so glad God made you. We're so glad God made yoooouuuuuuu. We're so glad God made you!" I just love it and it has quite possibly never meant more to me than it did this year when we got to sing it to Robert for the very first time. Our little man turned 1 last week and while I admittedly had a hard time getting used to the fact that my son is no longer a baby, I've since embraced toddlerhood and all of the preciousness that comes with it!

Here's a picture of the DELICIOUS cake that Cita got for him.

And here's the aftermath...His tummy wasn't feeling so great after partaking in the Thanksgiving meal followed by the rich chocolate cake, but I think he'd agree with the rest of us that it was all well worth it!

He had no idea why we were singing to him all day, but he didn't mind the extra attention one bit!

We had two birthday celebrations, one with each of our families. Here he is about to devour the strawberry shortcake that Leeley made for him in Atlanta. He also had his first taste of ice cream (Mommy was a little reluctant to share, but I caved in because of the special occasion:))!

This tiny shot (thanks, Snapfish!) was taken by my mom at the Georgia Aquarium. My parents (with some help from Robert's uncles, aunt and cousin Jack) took care of him while Carlton and I enjoyed a weekend getaway. He had so much fun that I'm convinced he had no clue we were gone until we returned! Thanks so much for loving on our little guy while we were away!
